About Us

The passionate team behind Color Contrast Checker

We are a dedicated team of designers, developers, and accessibility experts with a shared mission: to make the web more beautiful and accessible for everyone.

Our journey began in 2025 when we noticed a gap between aesthetically pleasing design and web accessibility standards. We created Color Contrast Checker to bridge this gap, helping designers and developers create visually stunning websites that are accessible to all users, including those with visual impairments.

Today, our tools are used by thousands of professionals worldwide to create color palettes that are both beautiful and compliant with WCAG accessibility guidelines.

Accessibility First

We believe the web should be accessible to everyone, regardless of ability or disability.

Education & Awareness

We're committed to educating the design community about the importance of accessible color choices.

Quality & Innovation

We continuously improve our tools to provide the most accurate and user-friendly color accessibility solutions.

Why Accessibility Matters

Inclusivity

Accessible websites ensure that people with disabilities can access the same information and perform the same functions as everyone else.

Legal Compliance

Many countries have laws requiring digital accessibility, such as the ADA in the US and the Equality Act in the UK.

Better UX for Everyone

Accessibility improvements often make websites better for all users, not just those with disabilities.

Larger Audience

By making your site accessible, you can reach the millions of people worldwide who have disabilities.

About WCAG Standards

The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) are developed by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) and provide a set of recommendations for making web content more accessible. Our tool focuses on the contrast requirements specified in WCAG 2.1:

Level AA Requirements

  • Text and images of text have a contrast ratio of at least 4.5:1
  • Large text (18pt+) has a contrast ratio of at least 3:1
  • UI components and graphical objects have a contrast ratio of at least 3:1

Level AAA Requirements

  • Text and images of text have a contrast ratio of at least 7:1
  • Large text (18pt+) has a contrast ratio of at least 4.5:1
